Incentivize Prospective Employers to Hire You – Alberta Jobs Now Program

The Alberta Jobs Now program is the largest jobs and training program in Alberta’s history that could provide your prospective employer a 25% to 37.5% discount when they hire you. If you are unemployed or working fewer than 30 hours per week and looking for a new job, let potential employers know they can apply for the Alberta Jobs Now program to cover wages and training costs if they hire you.

Who is eligible?
Businesses in all industries and non-profit organizations can apply for this grant. Private businesses include sole-proprietorships, partnerships and corporations registered or incorporated for at least one year may apply. The organization must be located and operational in Alberta and your employment must be in Alberta.

To qualify, you must be unemployed or working an average of less than 30 hours per week. You should not have worked for the employer for 90 days prior to the start of employment. You should be a resident of Alberta and will need to be working in Alberta during the 52-weeks grant period.
Temporary foreign workers are not eligible for this program. You should also not be the company owner, directors or board members of the employer or their immediate family member. The purpose of this grant is to find employment for those who are currently unemployed or underemployed.

How much?
The grant is for 25% of your salary, up to $25,000. If you have a disability, the grant is increased to 37.5% of your salary, up to $37,500. Your employer can receive half the eligible grant when you have been employed for three months and the remainder after fifty-two weeks of employment.

How to apply?
Your employer can apply before August 31, 2021 for the first intake at Alberta Jobs Now Program. The second intake will close on December 15, 2021 and the third intake will be announced at a later date.

• Statement of EI earnings
• Documentation of EI application decision
• Most recent record of employment
• Notice of termination
• CRA notice of assessment
