What the CRA Said
The CRA has reminded individuals to file their 2020 personal taxes even if it is past the April 30, 2021 deadline. They highlighted some good reasons for doing so, including the following:
• You may be eligible for a refund
• You may be eligible for benefits or credits payments
• Don’t risk interrupting your COVID-19 benefits
$1,200 Canada Child Benefit
The CRA has reminded families they could receive up to $1,200 in Canada Child Benefit (CCB) in support per child under the age of six in 2021. The first payments will be issued May 28, 2021. Families that qualify must file their 2019 and 2020 returns to receive payments.
